About Event

Hello Cody High Classmates!!!
Glad to contact you through this reunion website. The same information is found on our Facebook site, 1969 Cody High School Alumni.
We need you to check one of these sites regularly. Ultimately, we’ll need to know if we can expect you at the reunion gathering.
What’s vitally important now -- we need to spread the word. We’re trying to capture all 3 graduating classes – January, June, and August. Of note, this year we have opened up the invite to former fellow neighbors that would love to see the old gang. We’re expecting that for some grads, this is THE BIG ONE, the half century mark, the only reunion they’ve ever wanted to attend, so let’s make it that much more rewarding. We need a means of contacting them via e-mail or a reunion web site (these are the preferred means) or if need be, a verified phone number, and lastly a verified home address. If they are not willing to be included on a collective mailing or web site, then we might need you to be the go between. We’ll need the maiden names as well as a current name. We also need to know who of our fellow grads that you know has passed away. We have about 70 names listed on the FB site already.
Our reunion will be the weekend of August 2 – 4 to couple it with the 1950’s – 1960’s All Cody Reunion in Edward Hines Park on Sunday August 4th. This will enable you to catch some friends and family from prior graduating classes on the same weekend. Keep in mind that about half of the 1969 class does not live in the Detroit metropolitan area any longer while nearly 20% live out of state. Those grads booking flights, hotels and cars want to maximize the fun - SO YOU LOCALS NEED TO MAKE A GOOD SHOWING!
In general, it looks to be like this - the reunion gathering Friday night Aug 2; Saturday afternoon - a co-ed golf scramble, a tour of MM Smith’s Frank Lloyd Wright home, or your own plan with friends; and the park gathering Sunday afternoon (starts at 11am or so) with Comet alumni spanning two decades. As with all our prior reunions, spouses/partners are welcome/ encouraged to join the fun. To be as inclusive as possible, we’re trying to keep the costs down, and the socializing time maximized. Instead of a formal sit-down dinner on Friday, we’re leaning towards an evening gathering with small, tasty bites and desserts, and a cash bar; something like 7pm to midnight. A little pampering will occur. Come as you are. We will be creating a memory book once again using a bio form sent out in advance and including photos taken at the reunion. Group photos too! The Friday gathering location is TBD as we’re in contact with all kinds of venues on the I-275 corridor looking for availability, capacity, menu selections, handicap access, flexibility, parking, etc. If you have a dietary restriction, let me know so we can try to accommodate that. The golf outing will also be somewhere close by, aka Plymouth, Livonia, Novi, and not high priced, just lots of fun. Sunday in the park will be much like our gathering of 2009 – BYO food, drink, chairs, ice, frisbee, 1963 Corvette, etc. for a big-time picnic.
We have already been assured of donations totaling over $1000 by some fortunate and generous grads. We would like to hear from you too if you or your company would like to donate to defray costs for the rest, be it anonymously or acknowledged. This would really help some classmates after paying for those medical bills, grandkids’ college tuition, etc. Also, if you know of a fellow grad who will find any cost to be prohibitive, yet really like to attend, I’d like to reach out to them too. We have done this in the past without the offer being abused. Do let me know asap, thank you.
If we failed to address a topic, or you have questions, contact Louie Carpinelli solely and directly please at lou0314@comcast.net
Under no circumstances, shall this correspondence, or any future correspondence via e-mail, a reunion web site or the 1969 Cody High Alumni FB site be used for any unauthorized purposes aka solicitations, harassment, political or religious propaganda, proselytizing, etc. These are only to be used by the authors and administrators for the sole purpose of having a fabulous gathering this summer. Let’s keep it that way. Thank you.
For now –1) Check this site regularly, 2) tell fellow alumni of which you have contact info to join one of the web sites and check regularly, 3) if they are interested yet will not be viewing a web site, have them contact Louie Carpinelli at lou0314@comcast.net, or call him at 206-938-4644 in Seattle, and 4) make your plans to attend.
Thanks for your time and your help, see you in August. It’ll be a time to remember!

Reunion Apparel

The class of 1969 experienced history on a regular basis: The Summer of Love, the Tet Offensive, Nixon's rise to power, The Beatles' creative peak... very few spans of time can claim to have shaped American culture as much as the late 60's, and you & your Cody High School classmates experienced it together.

Now as you and your fellow Comets prepare to enjoy retirement it's the perfect time to reunite and share where life has brought you in the last five decades. Your reunion is scheduled and AlumniClass is your spot for arranging travel plans, ordering custom Comets merchandise to show off your school spirit, and connect with classmates ahead of time.
