About Me	In the immortal words of the Grateful Dead â€“ â€œâ€¦ what a long, strange trip itâ€™s been.â€ (Truckinâ€™, 1970) Iâ€™ve been blessed to have two parallel careers: one, mostly part-time, sometimes full-time, as a jet fighter aviator in the Air Force, Air National Guard, and AF Reserve. I was a back-seater in two-place fighters (like the character Goose in the movie Top Gun), called a Weapon Systems Officer (WSO). I flew the F-4 Phantom II in the Air Force for two combat tours/270 combat missions in the Vietnam War, based in Thailand, and an instructor tour, and then flew in the Texas National Guard in Houston and the California Air National Guard in Riverside CA. Then I flew the F-15 as an AF Reservist in flight test at Edwards AFB CA. I retired from the AF Reserve in 2000 at the rank of Colonel. My other career (day job) was aerospace engineering, mostly in flight test at Edwards AFB CA (in parallel with flying for AF Reserve) with earlier stints at Boeing â€“ Seattle and McDonnell Douglas in Houston.
