IKULA Nicholas Mikula Jr. M.D. Clinical Consultant, Plastic Surgeon, Hand Surgeon, 56 Nicholas Mikula Jr., M.D., of Paterson died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m., from the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 a.m. at St. Pauls R.C. Church, corner of Second and Union avenues, Clifton. Interment will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Visiting will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Born in Passaic, he resided in Paterson for many years.
Dr. Mikula was an adjunct professor (clinical consultant) at Kean University's Institute of Child Study, Department of Speech Therapy. He also maintained a private medical practice, specializing in Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery.
He was the author of several medical publications and was a well-known guest speaker on plastic surgery topics.
He was a graduate of St. Michaels College in Vermont with an A.B. degree in biology, and then graduated from The Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara in Mexico with a medical degree. He also studied at the University of Maryland, Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore.
Dr. Mikula was a member of the N.J. Aphasia Support Group in Rutherford, and a member of the Bergen County Post Stroke Support Group. Survivors include his wife, Cornelia (nee Vandervliet) Mikula of Paterson; 2 sons, Nicholas Mikula, III of Maryland and Patrick Mikula of New York City; a daughter, Maryn Mikula of San Diego; 2 brothers, Andrew Mikula and his wife, Nancy, of Nutley, and Dennis Mikula and his wife, Cynthia, of North Caldwell.
