UPDATE 4/21:
We are getting closer to finalizing our reunion plans but WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK.
If we get enough people to respond we will have the reunion Thursday through Sunday SEPTEMBER 7-10 or Fri-Sun SEPTEMBER 8-10 depending on responses. This is the WEEKEND AFTER LABOR DAY.
The tentative schedule of events are:
--Thursday night opening celebration at The Crossings in Carlsbad for dinner and drinks. We could do this on Friday as our opening event if it turns out that people would like that instead.
--Friday is free time to sight see, break out into smaller groups to visit, take the train down to San Diego, go to Lego Land, visit some wineries, play golf, surf, sun bath, etc. We could organize a group pizza party in the evening if you're interested.
--Saturday is the main event with a mid day catered picnic near the beach. With either live music or a good DJ and dancing. There will be places to talk and places to be rowdy. You choose. It will definitely be casual.
--Sunday morning we would like to have a memorial on the beach for our lost classmates, for those who could not make it because of disabilities and for those who's life's events prevented them from joining us. This could be followed by a brunch/lunch.
If we get enough feedback we might be able to finalize our reunion plans by the end of next week. Which would be great because then we can focus on finding people.
Here are our questions.
1. We need to know how many people will be coming to the reunion? Will you be bringing anyone with you to the events?
2. Will you be coming for the whole time Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun or only part of the time?
3. Is September 7-10 OK?
4. Are you willing to spend, say $65 for a fancy event on Thursday or Friday night and say $35 for a catered picnic on Saturday. (That's $100or $20/month tucked away for the next 5months, not bad)
5. Are you willing to commit to a "fancy" celebration at The Crossings? Which night is best Thursday or Friday?
We are asking because there were several people who wanted not only a picnic but also a more formal celebration with a dinner and drinks and music and, and, and.... We have found a venue at The Crossings at Carlsbad http://www.thecrossingsatcarlsbad.com/ that has everything we need.
The Crossings is available Thursday September 7th or Friday Sept 8th. They require a $2000 minimum, which is not bad. We figure our tickets would be $60-65 per person for dinner and drinks. This is a really good price. It would be nice casual. Apparently, dressy for San Diego County is what most people call casual. A collared shirt and shorts for guys and sundresses and sandals for gals. So you won't need to buy a fancy dress if you don't want to. It is a very nice and special venue that has beautiful ocean views, a private quiet area for conversations and good food. Oh and there is a golf course so you can play before our dinner.
