Coerced into the Navy by the Army in June 1967. NAOC Pensacola. Comissioned there, dropped out of the flight program due to tales by friends (Rex Bankhead, and others not of the class of '61). Served three years on Commander 6th Fleet Staff on stationed on USS Little Rock. Sailed around Mediterranean, waving flag, and chasing vastly better Soviet Navy in that theater. Best thing coming out, son James born US Naval Hospital Naples (Pozzuoli, Italia), May 1970. Must have done OK as discharged as Lieutenant when all was said and done.
