Hi, this is Robert Read, Jack’s son.
I live in Atlanta where I am a firefighter and received a call on November 10th from the facility my father was at in preparation for surgery. They made me aware that he went into respiratory arrest and was being taken to the ER.
? I received a call an hour later from the ER doctor that my father had passed around 5 o’clock California time and flew in immediately to take care of my fathers affairs, things that he wanted done that we spoke about in the last couple years if something like this was to happen.
I appreciate all of his friends here, people that I know and grew up with - those who knew my dad very well.
Sharon, his sister-in-law, is working on a celebration of life for him after the holidays, possibly around April. Hopeful we can have his friends from the motorcycle club and San Quentin who he worked with attend. The San Quentin honor guard will be present at the celebration of life to honor his years of service.
If you would like further information, please friend me on Facebook and I will keep everyone posted as we work out the details.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around our tremendous loss, please forgive if I’m rambling.
Respect to you all and thank you for being friends with my father and being there for him at times when he needed it.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Robert Read
