Ron was born on April 6th, 1952 in Concord, CA. He attended Clayton Valley H.S. where he was a 2 star athlete, football and baseball. He graduated in 1970 with the honor of Athlete of the Year. Following graduation, he moved to Jackson where he worked for American Forest Products. He then worked for his dad, Eddie Simmons at Amador Produce.

Ron had a love for Umpiring. Each year he would start with High School baseball and softball and at the end of the year would be with co-ed softball at Detert Park. Ron did this until he had a stroke in 2005, when he couldn’t umpire anymore.

A resident of Amador and Calaveras for over 47 years, he was known for his hard work, great sense of humor, good looks and his love for his family.

Ron lived with Donna Brillhart for 17 years, the last 14 in West Point, where he died suddenly on May 22nd. He is survived by Donna Brillhart, grandson Logan Verkuy, sister Kathy Simmons of Pioneer, Brother Steve (Susie) Simmons of Pioneer, nephew Sloan (Jenny) Simmons ,and their children Emma and Jack, of Sacramento, Niece Natalie (Chris) Truxel, and their children Evie and Presley, of Roseville, and stepmother Bernice Simmons of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his brother Jack Simmons, mother Shirley Cook and his father Eddie Simmons.

The family will hold a memorial at Castle Oaks Golf Course at a later date.

Contributions can be made to the Amador or Argonaut High School Baseball or Softball programs.
