Lynda, Dennis and daughters settled in the Monterey area. While Dennis retired as Fire Chief Lynda medically retired as a branch manager at Bank of America. She eventually became a Red Cross Disaster Director until a vehicle accident on the job. Before she healed from back/neck surgery, she was diagnosed with cancer.

She passed June 4, 2017 at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Her services were held July3, 2017 at the Baptist Church in south Salinas.
