Commissioned as Second Lieutenant in 1975. Retired as Major in 1995. Served as Operational Communicatons Officer, Naval Aerial Observer, Russian Foreign Area Officer, and U.S. Defense Attache in the Republic of Armenia. Service in the continental U.S. (Virginia, California), Europe (Germany), Africa (Somalia), Asia (Japan, South Korea, Philippines), and the Middle East (Armenia). Personal Awards: Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

1968 - 72. RADIOMAN 2nd Class (E-5). After boot camp, attended Radioman school in Bainbridge, MD. Then stationed at CNRTC, Omaha, Nebraska (May 69 to July 71). Last duty station was aboard USS Hunley (AS-31) which was then located at Charleston. Two weeks later, ship was reassigned to Guam. While traveling to Guam, crossed international date line and equator at 00 / 00 degrees which makes me a GOLDEN shellback. Thanks to all Clay Alumni for "your service."

Weapons, Combat Information, Communications and First Lieutenant on USCGC VIGOROUS (wMEC 627) Graudated with distinction from USCG Maritime Law Enforcement School enroute to Commanded USCGC POINT MONROE (WPB 82353) as a LTJG for two years, including assisting in the Cuban Sealift of 1980. Planning and Projects Officer for the Search and Rescue Branch for the Third Coast Guard District in New York as a Lieutenant. Left active duty in 1984 and served for a year with the El Paso Intelligence Center and the National Narcotics Border Interdiction System, S.W.. Moved to Missouri and was the Administrative Officer then Executive Officer of reserve units. Left the Reserves in 1988.
