About William Lloyd Futter, 67, lifelong resident of the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, of pancreatic cancer.
He was born March 21, 1942, at Clarkston, to Cecil and Alice Futter. Lloyd attended school in Clarkston, graduating from Clarkston High School in 1960. He played football on the varsity team and was a member of the FFA.
Following high school, he went into the U.S. Navy, where he served for two years on the USS Earnest G. Small.
After returning, he worked for Adams Auto Sales (now Joe Hall Ford). He worked there as a front-end specialist for more than 40 years until his retirement in 2005.
Lloyd was an avid stock-car racer in the '60s at Lewiston Speedway, where he won many races. He enjoyed camping, archery, traveling, photography, snowmobiling, riding dirt bikes and building his cabin at Waha.
He was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Kim.
Lloyd is survived by his partner of 25 years, Diane McMahon of Clarkston; daughter, Kim and her husband Joe Weber of Clarkston; grandsons, Alex and Jake Weber, both of Clarkston, and Vance Weber of Culdesac; granddaughter, Ashley Weber of Pullman; sister, Rebecca and her husband Dan Butler of Boise; nephews, Ron and Jon Butler; and niece, Michelle Butler, all of Boise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Alice Futter.
In his later years, Lloyd was a devoted grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He also enjoyed helping his son-in-law with his concrete business and restoring classic cars. He'll be remembered as a faithful and dependable friend who was always willing to lend a hand.
