About	It is with great sadness that I anounce the passing of the love of my life, Karen Tuckwell, who was known as Karen Stevens in school. I am also a CHS class of '79 graduate and was lucky enough to have known Karen since I was 6 years old, when both of us moved into the 1st grade at exactly the same time, half way through the school year. Karen truly exemplified the "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" lifestyle and was an accomplished surfer and motorcycle rider until she severely injured her knee when she laid down a bike right in front of CHS at 18. Betting you could out do Karen taking the biggest bong hit was a great way to loose your money. She always had tremendous courage and pushed the limits of life in almost every way. Although she passed away much too young at 59, she lived her teen years and much of her 20's in a way that most of us would envy. I was lucky enough to have lived with her for the last 8 years of her life, during which she battled stage 4 colon cancer. Lucily, she had several periods of time that were "cancer free" and lots of time that she did pretty well, but she had to under many operations, lots of Chemo and lots of radiation. She ultimately set the record at her Oncology Center, by raising it for what she started with from 5 years previously to 8 years when she passed. She was a huge Fantacy Football fan. She was the first woman ever to be in the ESPN fantacy football league. The first year there was 499 men and one woman, Karen. She was also the first woman to be "in the money" in that league, making 4th place out of 500. Nobody knew more about football than she did. In 2019 we took the trip of our lives and got to see the Daytona 500, a Space X rocket launch and she got to meet Guy Fieri, her cooking hero, in person behind stage with just us!!!
