Alumni Stories
Aaron Weaver
Class of 1989
Aaron Weaver was known as an outgoing, energetic, driven soul and a close, loyal friend to those that knew him well. After becoming an Army Ranger just out of high school, Aaron was deployed to Somolia where he fought bravely in the battle that inspired the making of the movie Black Hawk Down. He got out of the Army for a couple years and returned to Citrus county, but went back in to serve as an Army Aviator. He married Nancy Weaver and had a daughter named Savannah and a step son Austin. A family man, a war hero and a son of Inverness and Citrus County, Aaron volunteered one last time to deploy to Iraq (he was non-deployable due to required cancer screenings after surgery to remove cancerous cells just a short time before his deployment). He was killed in action on 8 January 2004 when the Medivac Blackhawk he was being transported in was shot down. If there is anyone that deserves to be in our Hall of Fame, Aaron does.
