| Favorite School Memory | Honestly I hated high school and couldn't wait to get out. I do have many good memories though, some of which I will have to keep to myself. Some good memories I have though are driving to and from Vocational School. We would usually stop at McDonalds and have lunch. I always found it interesting how many students felt that going to Vocational School was only for losers or students with learning disabilities. That couldn't have been further from the truth. The first class I took at Vo-Tech was a business class where I got my first taste of working with computers. Didn't get that at Chuckey-Doak. My second and third years at Vo-Tech I took Health Occupations which was not just for students who wanted to be nurses. At the time I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian and taking that class allowed me to work in an animal hospital for a few hours a week while getting class credits. So while most other students were toiling away in the classroom, I was basically getting to pla...(read more) |
| About Me | I've done many different jobs from factory work to working in a call center taking catalog orders. Between 1995 and 1998 I moved back and forth between Knoxville, Greeneville and the tri-cities. In 1995 I moved permanently to Knoxville to attend The University of Tennessee where I majored in Retail & Consumer Sciences. In 1998 I moved to Atlanta where I began working for Crawford and Company, a risk management company. I stayed there for 7 years working my way up from a Customer Service Rep to IT Support Specialist to a Department Supervisor. In 2005 I moved to New York City where I began working for North Shore Animal League America, the largest non-profit no-kill animal shelter in the world. I held several positions, the last of which was in the Major Gifts Department. This position allowed me to work with wealthy donors and celebrities. I made several appearances on morning news stations here in New York City promoting the shelter and animal adoption. I was also privileged to meet quite a few celebrities such as Kevin Bacon, Gloria Estefan, Rachel Ray, Rosie O'Donnell & Joy Behar at The View, Regis Philbin & Kelly Ripa from Live With Regis & Kelly, Wayne Brady, Parker Posey, Mya, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Howard Stern. Of course living in New York City it's nothing to see celebrities just walking down the st...(read more) |
