About Me	Represented Vanderbilt University as the first student representative at a city-wide Nashville University Center group of all city college presidents and a student rep from each university. Participated in Officer's Christian Fellowship (OCF) at US Naval Academy while at Walter Reed the last two years of college. Traveled for six weeks with OCF Adventure Tour to Europe and Middle East--Germany, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey Israel, Jordan & Egypt after junior year of college. First Army assignment (3 years) in El Paso, TX as Neonatal ICU nurse worked nights so could sing in El Paso Pro Musica professional chorale, and perform in musical theater productions, also church soloist. Purchased my first house. Completed Masters credits during Army Principles of Preventive Medicine course at Ft Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. Second tour (3 years) at FT Ord, Monterey, CA in Community Health Nursing. Managed large Tuberculosis Clinic, Home Visits for Child Abuse, Newborns, and Handicapped or Terminally Ill family members, taught large classes of military troops about VD, Contraception & Handling Stress. Traveled on medical education trip to mainland China in 1982. Sang in chapel choir, (also acting choir director). Had large singles Bible study group in my home (75/wk) Also sang in professional I Cantori Choir in places like the Old Mission in Carmel, CA. Met Navy Intel husband at Navy Chapel at Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, got married there in Sept 1983. Third assignment, FT Belvoir, VA (one of few places for Navy and Army to be co-assigned, there for four years). Became Chief, Community Health Nurse in Preventive Medicine before getting out of Army when expecting first child in 1987. Traveled to live briefly in Geneva, Switzerland while husband worked on START Treaty/Arms Control agreements with Soviets. Completed my masters degree in residence in New Orleans (Mom came along to watch the baby--strolled through French Quarter and Riverwalk while I was in class). Enjoyed raising our two children in the nation's capital over past 25 years: exploring parks, garden & music programs, Girl Scout leader, and Assistant Boy Scoutmaster, lots of canoeing, camping, hiking, and photography. Led weight loss groups at church for many years, choir and church drama activities, work with disabled adults from group homes. Very active in PTA, and local politics, in neighborhood activities, Moms in Touch, Faithful Friends, Precept Bible studies. Substitute teach with Fairfax Co Schools. Enjoying college events with our daughter who is studying architecture (first at UVA then Taliesin, The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture), and high school sports with our son who is on the Varsity Lacrosse team.
