About Me	Retired country lawyer; loved practicing law (primarily family and criminal defense). In private practice since 1991, with a 9-year stint at Legal Aid. Hung up my shingle January 2018. I became a Universal Life Church minister and now do weddings as my reward for years of divorce and child custody cases. House is paid for, so never leaving Watonga. Love rural Oklahoma, even though religious and political views put me in a distinct minority. But the positives greatly outweight the negatives. It would be really, really hard to ever live in a city again. I left Norman after getting my law degree in '79 and headed to Tulsa for 3 1/2 years, mainly waiting tables and having fun with science fiction fandom in the early '80s - I even got to hang out with writers. Dream time for the voracious reader I used to be. Besides, my brain was so tired after 20 straight years of school! Then back to OKC where I worked for highway department from 1983 to 1990. Political hack for David Walters campaign in 1990. Bummed around and ended up in Watonga in private practice in 1991. Been here ever since. Began my journey as Crazy Cat Lady in 1976. For the past year, I have been volunteering with a new local cat shelter/rescue and loving it so much, I now work every day with our Ladies Who Lunch (adult female felines) plus Tuesday morning at the cattary with numerous kittens. You know, fun stuff like cleaning litter boxes, feeding and watering, sweeping, and the best part: kitty socialization (i.e. lots of cuddles so they are ready for their forever homes someday. I also work Friday afternoons at the local winery. Key word, Wine. Also have many possible projects to choose from, such as fiber crafts (spinning, weaving, knitting); painting (watercolor); sewing (rediscovering hand sewing); finally learning to cook food that actually tastes good (!); and since I never married, that means I've had to learn many skills and do many tasks over the years as well as making all decisions about everything, so I'm fairly well-rounded in that regard.
