James Mason

Neo-Nazi and author of Siege

What is James Mason known for?

James Nolan Mason, born on July 25, 1952, in Chillicothe, Ohio, United States, is a notable alumnus of Chillicothe High School, OH. Known for his controversial life and ideologies, Mason has had a significant influence in certain far-right circles.

In his early years, Mason showed a strong interest in politics, which eventually led him to align with controversial political figures and groups. At the young age of 14, he joined the youth movement of George Lincoln Rockwell's American Nazi Party, displaying his support for extreme ideologies.

His affiliation with neo-Nazi ideologies deepened with time. After the assassination of Rockwell in 1967, Mason aligned himself with the National Socialist White People's Party (NSWPP) and Joseph Tommasi's National Socialist Liberation Front (NSLF).

Mason became disillusioned with the mass movement approach of these movements and began advocating for a white supremacist revolution through terrorism. His approach earned him the title of "Godfather of Fascist Terrorism".

In the early 1980s, Mason founded the Universal Order along with Charles Manson. The organization encouraged terrorism to gain notoriety, similar to that achieved by the Manson Family. Mason's writings in the Siege newsletter, which have been compiled into a book, form a significant part of the Atomwaffen Division's ideological foundation.

However, his extremist views and actions didn't go without consequence. He was convicted of assault and weapons charges, sexually exploiting a minor, and possessing pornographic images of a minor. In 2021, Mason was one of only two individuals sanctioned by the Canadian Government on its list of terror-related entities.

Despite his controversial figure, Mason's influence on extreme right-wing ideologies cannot be overlooked, making him a notorious figure connected to Chillicothe High School.
