| About | Age 59, of Carolina Shores, NC. Ms. Sandberg taught physical education at Avonworth School district for 33 years before retiring to NC. She also coached field hockey, softball and girl's basketball. Daughter of the late Doris and George Sandberg and also 2 late brothers, Richard and Eric Sandberg. Contributions were directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center in NC. |

In high school Karen drove an old 1953 Chevy fondly referred to as, “The Bomber”. It had some quirks at times—- when making a right turn, the horn would honk. At times, we had to use a rope to tie the door handles (on the passenger side) to each other to keep the rear door from falling open! We would stuff as many as 11 people in that car and head off to a basketball game at CV, a drive in movie or any one of many other adventures. Any time you spent with Karen was always a hilarious event. Her sense of humor was unmatched. She was afraid of nothing.
