About	Son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Kochin; Life partner and forever fiancé of Garnet Kravits; Father of Justin (Alyssa) Sypolt, Zack (Kaitie) Kochin, and Michael (fiancée Abby) Kochin; Brother of Mickey (Bruce) Berg, Chris (Shay) Kochin, the late Joanne Gardner, and the late Donna Capek; Stepfather of Jessica Gardner, Katie (fiancé Matt Shyosky) Kravits, and Matthew (Devon Brand) Kravits; Former spouse of Bonnie Kochin; Grandfather of Warren and Arthur Sypolt; Step-grandfather of Easton Shyosky; Uncle of Joseph and Bailey Kochin, George Gardner, and Joseph Berg; Great Uncle of Guerin and Emily Gardner. Jim was a member of Heidelberg and Glendale Fire Departments, where he served as Chief of Heidelberg for a time. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Carnegie Fire Department. He had a deep passion for serving his community as a fireman and took pride in the battle of the barrels. In addition to being a highly skilled carpenter, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His passion for the outdoors led him to become a hunter safety instructor with the Collier Sportsmen’s Club. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME INC., where family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 2:00 pm-7:00 pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. A Fireman's Service will be held Sunday evening at 6:30 pm. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
