About | It is with much love that we mourn the passing of Timothy B. Grimes, of Rennerdale on Tuesday, December 10, at the age of 73 years. Tim faced the disease of blood cancer with bravery and grace. Tim was lovingly tended to by his family and the staff at West Penn Hospital. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at West Penn Hospital for their care and compassion. Tim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, high school sweetheart and best friend of 50 years, Debbie; their beloved son, Matt (Lindsay); grandchildren, Lincoln and Luella; brothers, Mike (Gretchen) and Jerry (Lori); as well as numerous relatives and friends. Tim often said the best job in the world was being a grandfather; Lincoln and Luella dearly loved their “Pappy.” Tim was born in Rennerdale, the son of the late Richard and Jean Grimes. Tim taught deaf and multiple-handicapped children. While attending graduate school, he worked as a police officer. He was an EMT instructor and firefighter at the Rennerdale Volunteer Fire Department. Tim changed his career to medicine and became a Physician Assistant, where he found his calling and worked in the Medical Department of Bayer Corporation. Tim provided care to some 1,500 Bayer employees, many of whom became lifelong friends. As a PA, Tim screened returning troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. Debbie joined as administrative staff, and, together, they traveled as far as Hawaii and American Samoa to help service members. Tim was a Captain in the US Army Reserves; an elected Collier Township Commissioner; and an active parishioner who served on Saint John Lutheran Church Council. He enjoyed traveling, including two trips to Normandy, France; Tim was an avid World War II buff. Tim loved hunting trips with his son and brothers and his friend Tommy. Adventurous at heart, Tim tried scuba diving, sky diving, riding in a hot air balloon, a Goodyear blimp, a helicopter, and a World War II vintage plane. Everyone knew Tim as a good sport; a practical joker; a kind and generous friend; and an exemplary husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Tim was loved by many and will be missed by all. |

He sat behind me at John Dewey junior hs . His ambition then was to be a professional baseball player. He was always happy. One of the few good friends of middle school. Glad to know he has made the world a better place. My sympathies to his family. Sue
