About	Nancy Jane Alauzen died on July 4, 2024 at UPMC, Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by her family including her loving brothers, Mike (Robin), Paul (Kerry), Greg (Deborah), and Steve (Caroline), her loving sister Mary Pat (Brian) Braudis, and her sixteen beautiful nieces and nephews, Luke, Daniel, Jacob, Joshua, Cole, Madison, Tanner, Colby, Steven, Abbi, Garrett, and Olivia Alauzen, Melissa (Ross) Gallardy, Andrea (Garhett) Blackford and Anna Marie and John Braudis. Nancy enjoyed the company and support of her many friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Leon and Greta (Reagan) Alauzen. Nancy is survived by her aunts Carol Donovan and Arlene O’Connell. She is also survived by many wonderful cousins from the O’Connell, Donovan, Benefiel, and White families. Nancy authored one booklet on job search. She enjoyed attending creative writing classes and writing her memoir. Nancy was passionate about various causes including helping others in need and being kind to everyone. It didn’t take her long to realize that quality family and friendships are vital, finding our life’s work is paramount, educating our youth is critical, and recycling to save our natural resources is mandatory. She enjoyed volunteering for the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) and Global Links. In retirement Nancy continued to recycle clean reusable take out containers for the Jubilee Soup Kitchen in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, eyeglasses for Lion’s Club International and medical supplies for Global Links. Since she was born with X-Linked Hypophosphatemia, she supported related charities like Call to Care, Inc. (Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh) that provides an annual two-day dental clinic for under-served people in Pittsburgh. Nancy’s favorite vacation was relaxing, biking, and reading while oceanfront. When she could no longer bike, relaxing and reading near any body of water was a perfect day. Nancy also enjoyed visiting many good friends in Florida during the winter months. At a very early age her father taught her that you didn’t have to look far to see someone worse off than her and that was the driving force behind her strong commitment to volunteering. Regarding her recycling efforts, her family thought she was a little over the top but Nancy quickly reminded them she was saving the earth for her siblings’ grandchildren.
