About | With heavy hearts and laughter through tears, we say goodbye to our beloved Tommy, who bravely fought and ultimately succumbed to cancer. Tommy, just shy of his 76th birthday, passed away peacefully on January 26th, surrounded by his family at his dream home in La Quinta, CA. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patty (Cupp) Turnbull; daughters, Krissy Turnbull and partner Scott Colton, Jenny Turnbull Malizio and son in-law, Ryan Malizio; granddaughter, Nina Lopez; and sister, Susan Turnbull (Graham). He grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and was the son of the late Thomas Henry Turnbull and Arlene (Miller) Turnbull; and was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Turnbull (Greasel); and his brother, Dave Turnbull. Tommy could light up a room with his infectious laughter and had the ability to find humor in even the most mundane situations. He could make any moment memorable, and his stories were as legendary as his smile. Tommy worked as a Boilermaker for Local 154 for 30 years, and as a bartender, before spending retired life golfing, cruising the California desert on his Harley, and enjoying life (and a good cocktail) with his soulmate, Patty. He is deeply missed and will be forever remembered for his fierce devotion to his family and living life his way - to the fullest. No funeral services will be held. It was Tommy's wish for his ashes to remain with his family. Tommy would have loved for you to raise a glass (preferably filled with sambuca, vodka, or something strong enough to knock your socks off) and have "one for the ditch" in his honor. Rest easy, Tommy. You will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know you. You were one of one. |
