"Success With Honor" is the Penn State slogan. It is one that members of the Penn State Karate Club (PSKC) have demonstrate through the martial arts for 40 years. PSKC is one of the oldest university based martial arts clubs in the country. Jaeson Koszarsky, CVHS Class of 1989, joined the club in 1994 and is now one of the Black Belt instructors leading the club, along with his wife Jennifer. Both have trained with Master Instructors from the US and Okinawa and have competed at the Isshin Ryu Karate World Championship Tournaments, placing in the top 3 for their divisions. At the 2011 Championship in Indianapolis their PSKC competition team won 19 1st, 2nd & 3rd place awards. On March 24th, both Jennifer & Jaeson were promoted to Godan (5th Degree Black Belt). Their work with the club extends beyond the dojo (training hall). They teach self-defense workshops for various community groups, volunteer to support the Special Olympics, and THON (a student-run philanthropy raising funds & awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer). Jaeson & Jennifer are also avid runners.
