Jennifer Lynn Sumner, 52, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at her home with her loving mother at her side. She was born on October 23, 1972, in Charlevoix, the daughter of Thomas and Judy (Gennett) Sumner.
Jennifer graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1991 and worked on the maintenance crew at the Belvedere Club where her Grandpa Gennett was the groundskeeper. When she was 19, she began battling several health ailments and was unable to work any longer. She didn’t let these ailments keep her down and still enjoyed doing many things. Jennifer loved to bake cookies and cakes for friends and family for special occasions or for no reason at all. She also liked to work on jigsaw puzzles & draw, and she could often be found watching the Detroit Tigers or wrestling on TV. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jennifer is survived by her mother, Judy Sumner; her brother, Paul (Marci) Sumner; and her beloved cat, Jessie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Sumner; her maternal grandparents, Max & Margaret Gennett; and her paternal grandparents, Philo (Bea) Sumner.
Jennifer’s family has chosen to celebrate her life privately.
