| About | Timothy Jay Coen, 67, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on November 19, 1957, in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Kenneth and Gladys “Dolly” (Pech) Coen. Tim graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1976 and earned an associate’s degree from Ferris State College afterwards. He worked for many years doing plumbing and HVAC/R, spending the last 20 years of his career with the John E. Green Company. He was a member of the Charlevoix Rod & Gun Club and attended Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix. Tim loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He enjoyed family dinners, shooting sporting clays, going on family walks, and even had the opportunity to work with both of his sons. He also enjoyed spending as much time as he could outdoors and took much pride in caring for his lawn and home. In his younger years, he was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. On April 28, 1984, at the Barnard Methodist Church, Tim married Sharon Himebauch, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Steven (Rachel) Coen of Charlevoix, and Kevin Coen of Charlevoix; three grandchildren, Maddi, Easton, and Macy; two brothers, Dave (Sue) Coen of Charlevoix, and Jeff (Pam) Coen of Ellsworth; his sister-in-law, Sue Starr; five brothers-in-law, Gordon (Marcia) Himebauch, Nate (Neva) Himebauch, Dan (Sara) Himebauch, Jerry (Donna) Himebauch, and Dale (Joan) Himebauch; many nieces and nephews; and his work family at John E. Green. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Dolly Coen; his mother and father in laws, Clarence and Lucille Himebauch; his brother-in-law, Norman Starr; and his sister-in-law, Emily Stanek. Tim's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Advisacare Hospice nurses for their loving care and support. Tim’s family has chosen to celebrate his life privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlevoix Community Reformed Church, Safe Haven Ministries, or the Charlevoix Rod & Gun Club. Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Jean & Chuck Morrow Aug 12, 2025 One of the best customers to ever grace the doors of Great Lakes Pipe and Supply, he will be sorely missed. Godspeed Gerry Burns Aug 12, 2025 I had the privilege of working with Tim for nearly 10 years with John E. Green. Whenever the construction side was slow he always had work to keep me busy on the service side. It was always a pleasure getting to see him and share a few laughs, especially when it came to the lift stations and doo doo work as he liked to call it. You will never meet a more genuine and down to earth guy and it is an understatement to say that he will be greatly missed every day. My deepest condolences go out to the Coen family and I pray for strength for all of them during these tough times. Rest easy Tim.
