Robert "Bob" Charles Emrey
Robert "Bob" Charles Emrey, 78, of Glendale, Calif., and Charlevoix, died Sept. 8, 1996, at Northern Michigan Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1918, to Charles H. Emrey and Enid Todd Emrey. He attended Charlevoix schools and graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1935. He earned a bachelor's in business administration from Michigan State University in 1940.
After college, Mr. Emrey worked as Charlevoix's deputy city clerk and city assessor following. He then worked as chief accountant for Edys Character Candies in Los Angeles.
In the 1950s, he was treasurer of Pacific Airmotive Corporation and later vice president of finance for Sterer Engineering and Manufacturing Corporation, both aerospace companies. He was a licensed certified public accountant in California.
In 1986, Mr. Emrey retired from Sterer. He has been a summer resi- dent in Charlevoix since the mid-1980s.
Mr. Emrey was a member of the Charlevoix Lodge, F & AM Order of the Eastern Star, Saladin Temple, in Grand Rapids, Toastmasters International, Rotary International, Sons of the American Revolution, Southern California Genealogical Society and Charlevoix Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Patterson Emrey, of Glendale, Calif.; three sons, Robert C. Emrey, of Montgomery Village, Md., James Emrey, of Los Angeles, and Thomas W. Emrey, of Glendale; and five grandchildren.
