About Brian F. Slattery of Maple Lake, Minn., formerly of Charlevoix, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1969, in Farmington, to John and Karen (Treewater) Slattery. He gradu- ated from Charlevoix High School in 1987.
Brian became a Navy S.E.A.L., and while in the Navy was a welding engineer specializing in nuclear power plants. He also served as a Navy recruiter. Since 2001, Brian has designed and engineered 3-D imaging equipment and software for M.Q.C. Labs in Aberdeen, Md. For the past year, he's been em- ployed by Northstar Imaging Inc., in Rogers, Minn.
Brian was a member of St. Mary's Church in Charlevoix. He enjoyed his Jeep, boating, snow- mobiling and fishing.
On Sept. 13, 2010, he married Lea Hough in Elkton, Md.
He is survived by, Lea; his son, Patrick, of Abingdon, Va.; step- daughter, Lauren (John) Williamson, of Norfolk, Va.; stepson, Michael Berry, of Wilm- ington, Del.; step grandchildren, Clayton, Weston and Kade; father and stepmother, Jack (Anne Marie) Slattery, of Charlevoix; brother, Sean Slattery, of Hazel Park; sister, Colleen Sam, of Manistee; nephew, Gabriel Sam; uncle and aunt, James (Mary Powers) Slattery, of Apple Valley, Minn.
Brian's mother, Karen A. Slattery, preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2008.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Fri- day, May 31, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. A memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at St. Mary's Church in Charlevoix. The Rev. Matthew Wigton will officiate.
Contributions may be made in the form of Masses for Brian at St. Mary's Church.
