| About | Harold A. Tillotson, 94, of 301 E. Court, Ludington, died Feb. 27, 1988 at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington. Funeral will be Tuesday, March 1, at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, Ludington. The Rev. William Collins will officiate and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Petoskey. Mr. Tillotson was born Jan. 18, 1894, in Bay Shore. He attended Charlevoix High School and later attended Michigan Agricultural College at East Lansing. He operated a farm for two years and then married the former Agnes Worth at Bay Shore in 1915. She preceded him in death in 1959. In 1966, Mr. Tillotson married the former Eunice Willis in Ludington. While residing in this area, Mr. Tillotson worked for the City of Petoskey in the power plant. He was a coal passer, than fireman, then was chief engineer at the plant. He later worked for the Petoskey Portland Cement Co. as chief power engineer and assistant plant superindent for 26 years. He retired from the cement plant and then operated Tillotson General Store in Bay Shore for seven years. After moving to Ludington, Mr. Tillotson worked for Dow Chemical Co., and after retiring from that company, he worked part time at the Tri Super Market in Ludington and also the Anderson Trailer Sales until December of 1972. Mr. Tillotson was a member of the Durand Lodge F.&A.M. of Petoskey; a member of the Community Church of Ludington and served on the board of elders. He also taught Sunday School and was treasurer and chairman of the religious education committee and president of the church council. Survivors include: his wife; one son, Kenneth Tillotson of Walloon Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Costas (Edna) Albanos of Sarasota, Fla. and Mrs. Everett (Helen) Hendricks of Grandville; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren. |
