About Thomas George Meggison, aka Tommy George, 76 of Charlevoix died July 18, 2025 at home. He was born January 25, 1949 in Charlevoix the son of Donald and Helen (Kaske) Meggison.

Tom graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1967 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Charlevoix County, most recently as a maintenance supervisor, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. Tom also worked for several years at Beaver Island Boat Company.

Working on cars, going to car shows, and anything to do with cars in general were George’s favorite past times. He especially enjoyed his 1960 Chevy Wagon. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He could often be found having coffee with the guys at the Elks or Depot Beach. Tom thoroughly loved life and spending time with others.

On July 2, 2011 on the beach on Lake Charlevoix, he married Julie (Linden) Meggison who survives. Also surviving are his son Justin (Lindsey) Meggison of Charlevoix, stepsons Nicholas (Shadow) Tripplehorn, HI, Nathan Tripplehorn of Grand Rapids, Eric (Chantal) Tripplehorn of Grand Rapids, brothers Jerry (Babs) Meggison of Charlevoix, Bruce (Susan) Meggison of Charlevoix, sister Barbara (Kevin) Swanson of Charlevoix, grandchildren Draven, Ryker, William, Henry, great granddaughter Hope, nieces and nephews Danny, Krista, Kraig, Donovan, Grant, Lee, and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Mike Way officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be given to Just Cats Inc. in East Jordan or Charlevoix Area Humane Society.
