Mona Doyle passed away October 31, 2013, at the Charlevoix Area Hospital. She was born in Charlevoix, April 8, 1937, to Dean R. and Margaret (Johnson) Davenport. Mona graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1955. She attended Central Michigan University where she participated as a cheerleader, later attending Davenport School of Business.
In 1960, she Married Gene Warren. Mona enjoyed her career as an executive secretary and later became a licensed realtor while living in Charlevoix.
She is survived by her sons, Todd (Cindy) Warren of San Antonio, Tex., and Troy Warren of Santa Rosa, Calif.; brother, Dean (Joyce) Davenport of Charlevoix and Big Rapids; grandchildren, Nick (Alexandra) Warren, and Brittany Warren of San Antonio, Lindsey Warren of Santa Rosa; great-grand- son, Ethan Warren; many nieces and nephews; her special friends, Gaye Billman and Laurie Randall, and her dear cat, Boo. She was pre- ceded in death by parents; her husband, Jim Doyle; sister, Margot; brother-in-law, Karl Robinson.
She was an accomplished musician. After moving to California in the early 60's Mona became a member of the Sweet Adeline's Barber Shop Society. While living in San Francisco area, she joined the Metropolitans Quartet which in 1969, were crowned the International Queens of Harmony at the 23rd Annual International Convention of Sweet Adeline's. Shortly after touring the USA, the Metropolitans were sent by the USO to entertain our troops in the Far East.
Upon returning to her roots in Charlevoix, she was an active resident of Pine River Place. She created a monthly newsletter that contained information pertinent to Seniors, called "The Link". She led a fitness class. She researched the need for a bus to travel to Petoskey so that seniors could shop, visit doctors, and see friends on a weekly basis. Mona was responsible for starting a project called "Ziplock for Kids", which sent school supplies in a ziplock bag to the military in Iran and Afghanistan so they could be distributed to needy children. She participated in a "Hope for Haiti" project which sent cards of hope to displaced children. In 2008 she was awarded the Charlevoix Rotary Club's "Service Above Self Award" for her successful projects.
Mona's life will be celebrated during a memorial service to be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Charlevoix Area Hospital.
