About	Donald A. Crandell, 56 of Brevort Lake, died late Monday evening, December 2 at his home. He was born April 23, 1946 in Petoskey. His parents were Elmer and Kathryn (McVannel) Crandell. He graduated from Charlevoix High School, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to January 6, 1968, one year and six days in Viet Nam. He was a Rifle Sharpshooter, and was a LCpl, receiving a Purple Heart and Vietnam Commendation Medal. He loved to snowmobile, fish, and hunt, and enjoyed his children and 6 granddaughters. He worked for Harbor Springs Excavating for many years, and now owns and operates Beecks Foster Care Home on Brevort Lake the past three years with his wife. On May 25, 1968 he married Diana Beeck in Boyne City, and she survives. Also three children and families, Donald and Kathleen Crandell, Charlevoix; David and Doreen Crandell, Charlevoix; Julie and Robert Worden, Brevort Lake; brothers, Dan and Staranne, and Robert and Pauline Crandell, all of Charlevoix; Gordon Crandell, Boyne City; a sister, Genevieve and Grant Furgeson, Charlevoix; and granddaughters, Kelly, Lisa, Melissa, Taylor, Erika, and Kaitlynne. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lester and Elmer Jr. Friends may call at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Friday, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Gros Cap cemetery.
