About VANDENBERG, Ronald J., age 82 of Swartz Creek, passed away on June 11, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Resurrection Reformed Church located at 5225 Calkins Road, Flint, Michigan. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Atwood Cemetery in Ellsworth, Michigan. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Sharp Funeral Homes-Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ronald to the Carriage Town Ministries or the Resurrection Reformed Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Anne. Daughters, Holly (John) Stockley of Grand Haven and Wendy (Dan) Peacock of Comstock Park. Grandchildren, Anneliese Stockley; Aurora Stockley; Clara Peacock; and Niel Peacock. Brother, Garry (Esther) Vandenberg and sister, Doris (Mike) Delmotte. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Ronald J. Vandenberg was born on February 19, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John C. and Anna G. (De Groot) Vandenberg. He graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1959 where he was an All-State Athlete in Football, Basketball and Track & Field. He served our country with the United States Navy and married Mary Anne (Klooster) on July 8, 1967. He worked as a computer consultant for Unisys, the Michigan State Police and Joseph and Cogan and was considered a pioneer in computer networking. He enjoyed woodworking, antique model cars, gardening and he cherished time spent with his family.

Mr. Vandenberg was preceded in death by his parents and sister, and brother-in-law, Janice (Doug) Maddox.
