About	Dorothy F. Hinckley, 97, a former resident of Portage, MI, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL. She was born December 17, 1914 in Charlevoix, Mi, a daughter of the late Frank and Pearl (nee Egle) Partridge. Dorothy graduated from Charlevoix High School and received her Bachelors degree from Central Michigan University. In 1936, she began her teaching career in the Mt. Pleasant School System and spent over 20 years in the Portage School system, teaching at Milham Elementary. In 1962, she received her Master's degree in education from Western Michigan University. She retired in 1976 after 40 years of teaching. Dorothy married Maurice R. Hinckley in 1942, and celebrated 35 years of marriage before his death in 1977. She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Charlevoix and volunteered at the Senior Services in Kalamazoo. She loved to dance and travel. She is survived by her two loving children, Melanie F. VandenBrink of Ft. Myers, FL and Stephen M. Hinckley of Germantown, MD; one brother, Reverend Fr. Francis C. Partridge of Conway, MI; four grandchildren, Lisa Loiacano of Ft. Myers, FL, Terri Harris of Naples, FL, Cathy Armstrong of Morley, MI and Lauren Hinckley of Germantown, MD and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sivits of Morley, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice R. Hinckley, and her two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Alice Skeberdis and her daughter, Sandra R. Sivits. Graveside services will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix and will be announced at a later date. The family suggests that memorial contributions in her memory be made to Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home (239) 992-4982.
