About Joseph J. Bellinger, 50, of 8540 Cherry Point, Manitou Beach, died Monday. morning at Bixby Hospital in Adrian after a sudden illness. The son of Charles and Alice (McNeil) Bellinger, he was born at Boyne City on March 7, 1925, and on Dec. 27, 1946 married the former Marsha Camburn.

Mr. Bellinger was graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1943; received a bachelor of science degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1951, a master of arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1958, and an EDS degree from Michigan State University in 1969.
From 1951 to 1953 he taught at Elk Rapids; from 1953 to 1955 in Traverse City; in 1955-58 he was principal at East Bay Elementary School in traverse City: and from 1958-1964 he was superintendant of Kingsley Area School. In 1964 he became superintendant of Addison Community Schools, a position he held at the time of his death.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Michigan Association of School Administrators. and Addison Kiwanis; and was past president of the Lenawee County Superintendent Association. He was affiliated with Addison United Church,
A son Jonathon preceded him in death in 1964. He is survived by his wife, Marsha: a daughter, Mrs. Amanda Mangiardi of Pijauna Zulia, Venezuela; three sons, Michael of Tempe, Ariz... Charles at Ferris State College and Joseph Jr. at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bellinger of Charlevoix: and a brother, Donald of Elk Rapids.
The funeral will be held in Addison High School gymnasium at 2. p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Mrs. Donald Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kingsley.
Friends may call at Brown- VanHemert Funeral Home in Addison. Memorials may be directed to the Joseph Bellinger Memorial Fund at Kingsley Area High School for audio visual equipment in care of Bruce. Stenman.
