James died Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California. Born in Charlevoix, Michigan on November 13, 1928. James served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller in 1946. He worked for the Pacific Telephone Company for over 20 years. After retiring James and his wife moved to Modesto. James loved to build furniture, read, and bowling with the Prime Timers at the McHenry Bowl. James is survived by his loving wife Mary, 3 sons: Jerry, Charles, and John Eccleston, 5 grandchildren: Christopher, Robert, Brian, Benjamin, and Kevin, 10 great-grandchildren: Kira, Anthony, Kainoa, Iolani, Christopher John, Jason, Zachery, Christopher Y., Joseph, and Abam, sister, Sally Vincent of Somerville, S.C., and many nieces and nephews. James was a very out spoken person who loved a good debate. He also had a big heart and loved a good joke. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel, on Monday, Oct. 15th, visitation from 1-2:00pm, followed by a chapel service at 2:00pm.
