onnie Mae Cole, 89 of Petoskey, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs.
Born on June 18, 1931 in Charlevoix, she was the daughter of Ernest and Inga (Anderson) Smith. She grew up in Charlevoix and was a graduate of Charlevoix High School.
Bonnie furthered her education at North Central School for Practical Nursing in Traverse City, graduating in 1951. She worked for a few years at the old Lockwood Hospital in Petoskey. After marrying and starting a family, Bonnie stayed home to raise her four children. Later, after her family was grown, she went back to work at Bortz Nursing Center in Petoskey until retiring.
In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed reading, knitting, baking and taking long walks. Her family will cherish their memories of her as a mom, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Vern (Jean) Cole, Sandra (Dale) Rhea, Michael Cole and Kerry (Linda) Cole all of Petoskey; grandchildren, Elaine, Christopher, Eric, Cory, Cassia, Amanda, Jordan, Michael II, Kayla and Jenna; 18 great grandchildren; and her sister, Carolyn Snead of Petoskey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Smith; and a grandson, Tyler.
In keeping with her wishes, the family will have a private graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey.
