About In Loving Memory of Gloria Jon "Joni" Olach (October 27, 1933 - November 5, 2023)

Gloria Jon "Joni" Olach, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and proud Navy veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 90. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and a well-lived life.

Joni was born on October 27, 1933, and her journey through life was marked by a deep love for her country. She proudly served in the United States Navy for four years, where her commitment to duty and honor was evident to all who knew her. Her military service was just one aspect of her life's tapestry.

Joni was a dedicated mother to her three children, David (Trisha) Olach, Dori Olach, and Darren (Laura) Olach, who were the center of her world. Her devotion extended to her eight adoring grandchildren; Nicole Erber, Courtney (Vern) Grams, Stephanie (Grant) Oliver, Madison Olach, Emily Olach, Sara Olach, Elizabeth Olach and Gabriella Olach, and four cherished great-grandchildren; Natalie Erber, Nora Erber, Eli Oliver, and Dallas Rogers, all of whom were blessed to have her as a matriarch in their lives. She was a source of wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love for generations of her family.

Joni's life took her on a remarkable journey as an Army wife for 28 years with Vince Olach. During her husband's service, they had the opportunity to live in Germany, an experience that broadened her horizons and allowed her to embrace diverse cultures and traditions. Her adaptability and strength were evident as she supported her husband and family through the challenges and adventures of military life.

Joni received her associate in criminal justice degree from NCMC and worked for the Charlevoix County Sheriff Department. She was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse for many years in the 1980’s and loved being part of that organization. Before that, he had worked for Boggs Pastry Shop and taught Ballroom dancing. Later, she dedicated her time to the Commission on Aging as an Advisory Board member and on the Board of Northwest Academy.

Throughout her life, Joni had a deep passion for music, especially the Charlevoix City Band, where she found joy and camaraderie in her community. She enjoyed playing the Baritone with the city band. She spent many years helping the Charlevoix High School drama club with costumes and make-up and enjoyed helping with the high school band. Joni loved being part of the community and helping others.

Gloria Jon "Joni" Olach was a woman of integrity, grace, and kindness, and her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and love, leaving behind a legacy of patriotism, family, and a lifelong dedication to the things she held dear. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Joni's life will be held at Noon on Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Church in Charlevoix, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Charlevoix City Band, an organization that was close to Joni's heart.

Joni is proceeded in death by her father Dallas Henry, her mother Dorothy Henry, and her sister Donna Lord.

Joni, your legacy lives on in the hearts of those you leave behind, and your spirit will forever be our guiding light. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will be cherished for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Joni.
