| About Me | In 1962, Leevon McKinney and I married and during our marriage we had 2 children; Leevon McKInney Jr. and Julie Michelle McKinney. Together we raised them. We divorced after 14-15 years of marriage. During the divorce I was completing an Associate Degree in Applied Science at then called Rowan Technical Institute and is now known as Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. At this time, Leevon was a Highway Patrolman which he retired from in the early 90’s. After graduating from RTI, I worked for Cannon Mills Company in Kannapolis as an Industrial Hygienists. After 4 years at Cannon, I applied with the NCDOL-OSHA division for a compliance safety officer position and was hire din 1982. In 1990 I went to work for Federal OSHA for 3 years, while my husband, Ed Ragan was attending Life Chiropractic College in Marietta Georgia. IN 1993 we returned to NC and I returned to NC DOL OSHA. After 6 months in compliance I applied for a safety consultant position and have remained in that position and was blessed with the western position in 1997. We moved here and my husband set up a practice in Old Fort, Eagle Chiropractic. He chose the name from Isaiah 40:31. I currently have 26.5 years with the State of NC and ‘may’ retire in approximately 3 years. Since my husband is younger than I, it may be that I work longer so that he can retire earlier. My oldest child attended the Citadel earning a degree in Electrical Engineering and has worked for several firms in the Charlotte area. He also has his professional licenses’ in NC & SC in EE. He has 2 sons, Ryan, now 21 (at UNCC) and Hunter 18 (last year of high School). His step daughter, Harmony is attending East Carolina University. We lost Harmony’s Mother to lung cancer in 2008 when Harmony was 16. I was blessed to be a part of her life for a short time. She has blessed me with a Grand Daughter and my Son with a daughter which we never had. She is intelligent, has common senseïŠ, and is a beautiful and a loving & caring person. Julie was born with Spina-Bifida and works at Hardies in Old Fort part time. I am very proud of her and she tries very hard to live a normal life. She loves doing crafts and is active in her church, the First Baptist Church in Old Fort, NC I have a few favorite sayings and motto’s. Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. Everything is not what it appears. Everything takes longer than you think and cost more than it should.
