David G. Lavoie
Class of 1972
Coast Guard, 8 Years
Served 18 months in Estratit, Spain at a LORAN station. Then transferred to Charleston, SC for a 3 yr hitch in small boats , search / rescue & law enforcement boarding officer. From there went to Seattle, Wa for a 2 yr 8 month service on the Ice Breaker Polar Sea (400 ft).
While on the ship I've been to the arctic ocean 4 times. Have circumnavigated the North American continent. Went to Antarctica & spent 2 months at McMurdo station.

Served in a variety of roles in the Command Control field, to include flying as an operational aircrew member on the Strategic Air Command Airborne Command Post (Lookingglass), National Emergency Airborne Command Post (NEACP), and National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC).
