Class of 1990
Navy, 8 Years
I was a Hospital Corpsman (Medic). I trained to serve with the Marines to go to Desert Storm in 1991 but was never sent. I wound up in support positions with a P-3 squadron ( a large plane that hunts for enemy submarines) in Diego Garcia, Oman, Japan, Okinawa and Hawaii. I was occasionally sent with Marine detachments for temporary duty assignments. I also taught aviators the affects of flight on the human body also known as aviation physiology. We would spend time in a hyperbaric chamber just like in the movie "An Office and A Gentleman" where Richard Gere got goofy after taking off his oxygen mask and had to play patty cake with the other people in the room. They were all suffering the effects of hypoxia. Needless to say, I had an interesting and busy experience while I served in the military.
