About Event
A committee has been formed to explore options and plan for the combined Central Bucks East/ Central Bucks West 55th reunion of the Class of 1971.
That committee has been busy at work with discussions to determine where and when to hold the reunion and other available options.
In consideration of graduates potentially travelling from out of the area, it was first determined to move the date until after Labor Day, 2026. Thus, the date of Friday, September 11th, 2026 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM has been agreed upon. Considering possible weather issues and persons with disabilities (and none of us are getting any younger!), it was decided to hold the event at an indoor venue. A donation of $100.00 from a committee member to hold the date and reserve the social hall has been sent to St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, Pennsylvania. The facility has a capacity of 250 persons and is accessible to those with mobility issues. It is a non-smoking facility.
The committee is also exploring a group hotel rate within a few miles from the church, possibly in the Willow Grove area (within 15 miles from the reunion site) with easy access to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-95.
To underwrite the total cost, it has been agreed to charge $10 per person and $18.00 per couple. Spouses/significant others are invited and encouraged to attend. A budget to account for expenses and cash donations has been developed and will be released following the event.
In order to minimize costs, a formal, banquet style meal will not be offered. It is asked, however, that attendees bring food items so that a pot luck meal may be available. The committee will provide tablecloths, plates, cups, utensils, soft drinks, and bottled water. Alcoholic beverages will not be served but everyone is welcome to bring their own beer, wine, mixed drinks, etc.
The committee will provide recorded music from our school days as background music. There is enough space in the hall for those who wish to dance!
In a few weeks once accounts are in place, the committee will begin to accept reservations with payment by check, money order, or by PayPal account. When making payment, please specify what you will be bringing for the pot luck meal. The attached flier suggests options for you to contribute. Gluten-free and meat-free options should be specified. The deadline to make reservations for the event and hotel accommodations will be announced later.
The committee is open to discussion and additional suggestions to enhance this event. Additional details will follow in the coming months.
