About Me	My name is Katie Berner and I will be a senior at Luther College this coming fall pursuing a Business Management Major with a Communication Minor. In addition, I am a First-Year Orientation Coordinator, a Habitat for Humanity Leader, and a Student Manager for catering on campus. Originally, I hail from the rolling hills of Centerville, Iowa (which is not located directly in the “center” of the state, as one might expect, but rather in the southern part of Iowa). My home town is known for its annual Pancake Day celebration, which includes free pancakes for the entire town, a 10k race/walk, a huge parade, and a beauty pageant (and yes, I participated in the 2010 Pancake Day Pageant). As in any good pageant, there was a talent portion for which, I chose to play a few of my favorite tunes on the trumpet. It was an all around enriching experience and a wonderful memory. I continue to play the trumpet at Luther College in the orchestra, a brass ensemble, a trumpet ensemble, and private trumpet lessons. When I am not studying or practicing the trumpet, I like to play tennis, ski (water and snow), run, read, and listen to music (Mumford and Sons).
