Robert L. Fleming

Robert L. Fleming

Class of 1974

Rob Fleming, an incorporator of, and general counsel to, the not for profit PET International, Inc., a distributor of hand cranked wheel chairs for the mobility impaired in the Third World (see giftofmobility.org) is a Missouri Law School graduate and criminal defense attorney in the Columbia, Missouri area. A recent book, The Bison King, (Kenneth Miller, Tate Publishing) tells the true story of the defense of Ron Michaels, a man charged in an alleged murder that occurred in 1979 in and around Buffalo, Minnesota. Rob and his older brother Jim Fleming defended Mr. Michaels in this once in a lifetime and truly bizarre case. It is not Grisham or Turow, but if you enjoy crime stories and a true to life tale of lies, conspiracy and government officials who will do anything for a conviction (and did), you should read it. If you believe this does not happen in your America, you must read this book. All proceeds from the book, written by Michaels' childhood friend Ken Miller, go to the Michaels family; a good, Christian family who faced this nightmare with faith, trust and hope. Would make a good Christmas gift for someone on your list who has an interest in the law, government, or human nature.
