About Me	After graduation in 1968, I attended Bluffton College (now Bluffton University) in Bluffton, Ohio and graduated in 1972 with a BA degree in Secondary English education. I started teaching 7th and 8th English at Ottawa Elementary, one of three elementary schools in the Ottawa-Glandorf Local School district. After teaching for 10 years, I went back to school and received a Master's in School Guidance in 1986. After 16 years teaching junior high English, I did 8 years of elementary guidance between the Ottawa and Glandorf elementaries, one-half day at each building. The district then needed a high school English teacher for a half-day, so I taught four English classes every morning, one freshman class, two sophomore classes, and one junior class. I did not have a regular classroom; I had to travel to a different classroom each period. After four years of that insanity, I did eight years of high school guidance at Ottawa-Glandorf High School. While teaching, I also did a little coaching. I coached junior high football and track for 12 years. Then, I took three years off coaching to get my Master's degree in Secondary School Guidance. After receiving my degree, they did not need football or track coaches, but they did want to start a junior high girl's volleyball program. I started the program and did that until 2000. I also coached junior high girl's basketball until 2000. In the fall of 2000, I started high school guidance, and they had a need for a freshman girl's volleyball and freshman girl's basketball coach. I coached the freshmen until 2008 when I retired. I did all 36 years at the same school district. After thinking I was retired, I was approached by the Putnam County Educational Service to be the English Curriculum Coordinator. I accepted that position, and then found out they needed someone to coordinate a 4.3 million dollar Safe Schools and Healthy Students federal program for the county. I did those two tasks for two years until I was losing sleep because I was trying to do two full-time jobs by myself. In 2010, I then started substitute teaching and helping my brother-in-law farm. I did that until 2017 when our local elevator needed help, so I started weighing in trucks of grain, sample the grain and check the moisture, test weight, and foreign material in the grain. Then in 2020, the cooperative needed springtime help delivering liquid fertilizer, seed, and nitrogen. I did both of those jobs along with substitute teaching until this Spring in 2026. I was blessed to be a student, teacher, coach in an educational setting from 1954-2026 along with helping with the farming community. I also drove a tour bus from 1998-2010. That was a weekend and summer thing that was a lot of fun with a lot of responsibility. I have had a very blessed life, and I am very thankful for being able to do things that I have enjoyed. Oops! I forgot I also worked every summer from 1971-1998 at the Dekalb Seed Corn facility in Deshler, Ohio. I worked in the warehouse bagging, sorting, and warehousing seed corn.
