These two led the 1997 Comet Football team on an amazing and heart-stopping run. The team was “down” from years prior, and supposed to be dreadful (the experts said 2 – 6). Turns out Gary Corbett had just the guys to LEAD a team. With multiple close games with thrilling outcomes to lopsided victories, this team signifies the true meaning of the word team, and that came from these two players. Leading by example, Ploessl was one of the most decorated and gifted receiver and defensive back in Cassville history. Breuer was a monster on a defense that was lightning quick. Breuer was selected as Captain and Ploessl was selected as MVP, but there really is no way to determine which was which. They both deserved each award. Both we all conference, all area, and should be remembered for their accomplishments that go far beyond the field. Congratulations on two wonderful careers!
