About | Sylvan Cemetery, Citrus Heights, CA Lawrence Effinger (Class of 1972) passed away on Monday Feb 9, 2015 from complications of diabetes. He was taking a nap Monday afternoon and passed away in his sleep. Lawrence was diagnosed with diabetes after a childhood illness when he was 11 years old. Lawrence would have been 61 years old this year. Lawrence was the oldest of three sons. His brothers Michael (55) and Paul (52) are younger. His parents are in their late 80's and in good health. Lawrence lived next door to his parents house in his grandparents house at the corner of Walnut Ave and Orangevale Ave. From Sacramento Bee Sunday Mar 8, 2015 EFFINGER, Lawrence Edward Larry Effinger, age 60, died peacefully in his sleep in his Orangevale, Ca. home on February 9, 2015. Born on August 24 1954, he was the loving son of Andrew and Naida Effinger of Orangevale and the brother of Michael (Kathy) Effinger of Las Vegas, NV, and Paul Effinger of Salinas, Ca. A lifelong resident of Orangevale, he attended the local grammar schools and was a 1972 graduate of Casa Roble High School. He graduated from U.C. Davis in 1977 with a degree in biochemistry and bacteriology and worked for the Sacramento County Regional Waste water Treatment Plant, as an Industrial Waste Specialist. He retired in 2010 due to ill health after 34 years of service. Larry led a very active life prior to retirement. He loved to travel, visiting Europe several times, Hawaii, Canada and numerous historic places, Civil War battlefields and National Parks in the US. He was a man with a curious nature and a variety of interests. Larry was also an avid reader with an extensive library covering a wide range of subjects, and had a special love for the arts, classical music, Civil War history, geology, and his faithful computer. He was a quiet, gentle man, ready to assist anyone who needed his help. He will be greatly missed by his parents, brothers, relatives & all who knew him. His family is especially grateful to the numerous doctors, nurses and staff of the Kaiser Medical Center and Hospital, Roseville, Ca. who treated him with attentive care and respect through the years for his many medical problems due to diabetes. We also wish to express our gratitude to the staff of the Orangevale Dialysis Center for their kindness and care given him in his final years. In accordance with Larry's wishes, there will be no services and interment in Sylvan Cemetery, Citrus Heights, Ca will be private. Arrangements were handled by Miller Funeral Home, Folsom, Ca. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 2 PM at the Folsom Veterans Hall, 1300 Forrest Street, Folsom. Relatives, friends and former co-workers are cordially invited to attend. Any donations in his honor can be made to Kaiser Medical Center, 1600 Eureka Road, Roseville, Ca. 95661, to the American Diabetes Association, or to a charity of your choice. |
