Sylvester R 'Sal' Hall- Legendary Coach

The Sylvester R Hall House is listed as a Landmark by the Cultural Tourism Organization of Washington DC, in the African American Historic Trail Booklet.

Sylvester R Hall is also listed in the Kappa Alpha Psi Trail (Cardozo High School-Sal Hall Stadium) by the Cultural Tourism Organization of Washington DC.

A LEGEND in HIS Time:
COACH OF CARDOZO CLERKS, Football and Track & Field Teams with Renowned recognition for being the First Negro Football Team to Play in the Inter City Championships 1948-WINNING the City Title and Acclaim! Breaking the boundaries and fighting Segregation on the Football Field! YEAH!! GO CLERKS!

As a “Diamond in the Rough”, in the honor of “Building Bridges for a Stronger Tomorrow…Brother by Brother” and in respect of "Rebirth, Reclaim, Recommit, By Leaving No Brother Behind," and acknowledgement and commitment to “Achievement in every field of human endeavor”; I Sheila I Hall-Onley humbly request from the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc, and the Cardozo High School Alumni, your assistance in LEADING BY EXAMPLE to contribute to this Fundraiser in honor of my father, Sylvester R. ‘Sal’ Hall; and the education of our youth in pride and circumstance from whence they come, this ICON of African American History-the Sylvester R. ‘Sal’ Hall House Museum, for all to be able to know of the History Made by this Honorable Brother Kappa, Dedicated Father and Devoted Husband, in structuring of the African American Family, and Contributions to African American History and commitment to Education of the African American Youth.

WHO AM I?
I am Sheila I Hall-Onley, daughter of Sylvester R. “Sal” Hall, a Graduate of Shaw University, BA Degree in Business Administration, An Employee of 29 years for Aetna Life Insurance Company Inc, a Published Author of “Omega of Solstice-the Matriarch”-a tribute to my mother Registered Nurse-Retired, from the Washington DC Department of Health and Human Services, Mrs. Sallie I Hall; Founder and Director of the Challenge Hope and Rescue Historic Preservation Mission-A Non-Profit Organization. Along with being an Entrepreneur of Onley Dreams Come True Inc.- Wholesale Dropshipper of Retail Merchandise. (All of the profit made from these endeavors are funneled into the Sylvester R “Sal” Hall House Museum. For its upkeep, lawn care and bills for sustaining the residence)

WHAT HAVE I ACCOMPLISHED With the RENOVATION So Far?
1) Applied and Approved for a Home Improvement Loan $69,000.00
2) Implemented a Home Renovation Strategy to renovate the House Basement, to an updated livable area.
3) Renovated the Front Porch of the residence, resealing the porch, repairing the cement foundation, upgraded the Porch itself and Walkway to a porcelain slate, enhancing the features of the home; the back porch of the residence-repaired, refinished , and exterior basement area, replacing steps and concrete foundations
4) Replaced the exterior front fencing of the house from chain link to a special coated and strengthened Black Aluminum Fence to extend the entire length of the property which includes 2 lots of land.
5) Replaced the radiators throughout the house, with Central Heat and Air Conditioning
6) Replaced the Old Pipe lines in the home, to upgrade piping for water flow
7) Repaired damaged ceilings and concrete (damage due to pipe leak)
8) Replaced electrical outlets to upgrade due to the age of the home.
9) Installed additional alarm equipment-security cameras inside and outside of the homes exterior, with 24 hour monitoring and client monitoring by computer.
10) Upgraded Sub Pump
11) Termite Proofed the Residence
12) New Windows Installed throughout the house x 12 for energy efficiency

What else needs to be done?

1) Renovation of the Kitchen
2) Replacement of the Kitchen Back Door
3) Painting throughout the house
4) Refinishing the Wood Floors
5) Replacement of the roof
6) Landscaping of the Exterior Yards
7) Renovation of the Living Room to an visitor area and Display of the Numerous Trophies, Awards, Plaques and Honorable Recognitions received
8) Addition of a Photo gallery within the Dining area of the house to show case, photos from the 1930’s through the 1980’s, newspaper articles and magazine articles in which he authored, Display the Books of 1952, 1954, 1955, 1956, Who’s Who In American Education, which he is listed and other books in which he is quoted!
9) SPECIAL SHOWCASE and Dedication to the KAPPA ALPHA PSI Fraternity and Xi Chapter, Howard University
10) SPECIAL DEDICATION And PRESENTATION of Photos, Newspaper Articles, of the CARDOZO HIGH CLERKS!
