Graduation

The Friendship Capitol High School Graduation will be, Tuesday, May 10, 20016 at 6:00 pm.m at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Kiwanis Annual Christmas Parade

To my fellow Alumni, this Friendship Capitol High will be in the Kiwanis Christmas Parade this year. We asking for any donations in the form of candy, throws ( beads and balls) that can be thrown at the Christmas Parade. Please contact Ms. Conner at the school at (225)239-7506. Family Christmas Dinner

Join the Friendship Capitol High Family as we celebrate the holiday spirit! This event is open to all Families, Fellow Alumni, and Community Members. The dinner will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the school from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 pm. Door prizes will be raffled!!! Remember it is a great day to be a Golden Lion!!

Community Service Summit

Join us as we host local organizations and institutions to learn about the many services available to community members including free tax preparation, early childhood education, social work, pro bono legal counsel and much more! Food will be served! This summit will occur on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Please come out and support our first Community Services Summit. Remember it is a great day to be a Golden Lion!!!

Thanksgiving Dinner

We are inviting all students, their families, and fellow alumni, to come to Thanksgiving Dinner at the school on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, starting at 11 a.m. There will be a live taping of Style Savvy with IGOR Matkovic Celebrating the Football Team in the gym starting at 11;30 a.m.!! This event is being sponsoring by Piccadilly Cafteria, Jerry Del Rio, LRPR, and Happy Tears. Please come out and celebrate this joyous occasion with us.

Homecoming 2015

To my fellow Alumni,
It is now Homecoming Time Friendship Capitol High (Capitol High School). We are presently in the planning process of Homecoming Activities. This year's Homecoming Theme is: Let the Good Times Roar. Our Homecoming Coronation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 9:30 a.m,, and the Homecoming Game will be Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with pregame activities starting at 5:30 p.m. This is also our Senior night. We are in need in transportation for our Homecoming Court to be presented at half-time activities just like the way we did it in the old days. If there is anyone out there with old school cars or corvettes who would be willing to help, please contract Weverlyn Hayes Conner, Executive Secretary and Class graduate of 1980 at (225) 239-7506. CAPITOL HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
NOVEMBER 2013 RESOLUTION

Meeting of the members of CAPITOL HIGH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION on this day Monday, November 18, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. we set forth this resolution; and
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana, Department of Education has full charge of the future of the facilities and the operation of Capitol High school as an educational facility; and
WHEREAS, Capitol High School has been an integral part of the East Baton Rouge Parish public school system for over 60 years and thousands of citizens have benefited from academic achievement and cultural enhancements gained by attendance at Capitol high; and
WHEREAS, we believe that the continuation of Capitol High School is necessary and requires the full support of the local citizens of East Baton Rouge and the City of Baton Rouge; and
WHEREAS, we support the Mission of School – Ensure Capitol High School Students reach their fullest potential. Accomplished through:
• Preparing students from nearby neighborhoods for success in college and citizenship.
• Educational programs which meet today’s challenges
• Provide life skills that transition to higher levels of education and beyond.
• Create an innovative school where students acquire a rigorous academic foundation that can apply to the community and world around them in meaningful ways.
• Graduate students with character and a sense of civic responsibility to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative, and compassionate members of society.

WHEREAS, we believe that the Vision of Capitol High School is necessary and requires the full support of the local citizens of East Baton Rouge and the City of Baton Rouge; in preparing students to function effectively in an interdependent global community. In addition to acquiring a core body of knowledge, all students need to develop their individual capacities to
• Pose and pursue substantive questions
• Critically interpret, evaluate, and synthesize information
• Explore, define, and solve complex problems
• Communicate effectively for a given purpose
• Advocate for ideas, causes, and actions
Section I – Capitol High School is in transformation reflective of the legacy that it developed since 1950. The State Recovery School District has selected Mr. Roy Walker as its principal. He has with his administration over the last twelve plus months raised the state school score from an “F” to a “D”.
Section II – The Alumni Association support the autonomy of Capitol High School through its principal, Mr. Roy Walker and controlling agency of state government, the Recovery School District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED by the Capitol High School Alumni Association that, on this day, the officers and members approved and circulated the aforementioned.
