I went to the Naval Academy after graduation, then was commissioned as an Ensign in 1981. After training in nuclear power, I served as a division officer on USS Boston (SSN-703) based in Groton, CT, For the following 10 years I drilled in the Navy Reserves, in Submarine repair or Engineering units.
