About Me | US Navy Air Traffic Controller,37 years in FAA Air Traffic Control.Career involvement, Pilots License,Aviation Airframe and Power plant License,Notary. Continued music as a hobby, still physically, spiritually and mentally active. CPHS after Graduation My life in a nutshell. The Navy band Came to CPHS and performed. Do You remember? I knew that’s what I want to be in. So I audition for them. The results they gave me the good news bad news option. I picked the good news first. They said I passed. Yea!! The bad news The Navy band does not need anymore drummers. They have to many. My smile turned upside down. So my test scores for the Navy allowed me with very good career options in the Navy and when I wanted to get out of the Navy. I picked the Air Traffic Controller, ATC, career and signed up for 6 years in The Navy. I went to ATC school in Tennessee ya all. They had a volunteer band there I signed up for to play in parades, concerts and for Navy dignitaries. Pinch me. I went to ATC school and got to play in The Navy volunteer band. God is good. I graduated ATC school and received orders for a 3 year duty on an Aircraft Carrier called the USS Constellation based on the West coast in San Diego. We sailed all over the Asian Pacific for 9 months at a time. I knew a few guys that played guitar. We got together and thought we sounded good enough to play for the USS Constellation as a volunteer band as our real jobs permitted. We played in Singapore and the Philippines and at Ships Parties and ATC Parties. ATC work on a Navy Carrier is quite exciting and rewarding. To much to talk about for this outlet. My time was up from this amazing adventure. The guys I played music with in the Navy we got out about the same time and tried to make it as Rock Stars, it didn’t work out. So sure glad I learned ATC in the Navy. Remember when Regan was President and he fired 11,000 Air Traffic Controllers protesting At ATC facilities around the country. I scabbed through the protest lines and got a Job/Career because of my Navy ATC schooling and experience. I didn’t care what these ATC protesters called me , I needed a fricken Job. The ATC protesters mantra was “President Regan can’t fire all 11,000 of us.” Guess what, He did. I got hired by the Federal Aviation Administration or FAA and stayed employed until 2016 when I retired. It was a great Career with lots of highlights the FAA allowed me to continue my education (4 years in college) and many FAA classes. I was very fortunate and thank God for 38 years total in aviation which included becoming a Pilot and aircraft mechanic. Personally I did not do well with Marriage but I have been blessed with great kids and grand kids. After I retired I remarried to an American Italian women and we had our Italian Wedding in Florence Italy. We are still married ,retired and live in a wonderful house in the Los Padres National Forest and I am still playing in a Rock and Roll band. I feel very blessed by the life God gave me and very honored to go to school with you all in Canoga Park. It was a good time to grow up and laugh and enjoy friends. Gosh we had a lot of fun. Thanks for being a big part in my memory ban...(read more) |
