Doug and I were friends and classmates beginning with our time in middle school at Inland Valley Intermediate. While at IVI, Doug and I were always on the same football, basketball and baseball teams. Doug was a gifted athlete who also possessed a sense of humor even in competition. During one batting practice session Doug amused the entire IVI baseball team by catching fly balls behind his back. I will always remember him for his kind spirit, sharp wit, infectious laugh and his indomitable competitiveness and courage as an athlete. By far the toughest event in Track and Field is the 880 yard run. Simply put, Doug was an animal at this event, never giving up despite the other swifter runners. May flights of Angels take you to your rest Doug and may you know you made this world a better place by your presence. Your forever friend, Bruce Hamilton
